Henry was the eldest of five children born to Henry John Klein and Anna Rosenauer. On 10 May 1930 he married Marcella Everslage and they had two children, Robert and Marilyn. Early in his life he worked as a laborer in an oil refinery. For many years he was a carpenter and, at the time of his death, he was employed at the Kentucky Millworks. He died of pyelonephritis and uremia.
