Dorthy was born February 2, 1928 near Columbia, Iowa to Isaac and Zina Willis Bingham. She was the youngest of 13 siblings who gave her the nickname of "Cotton" because of her snow-white hair when she was a child. She attended school in Melcher and was married to Thomas Wiliam"Willie"Krpan on March 2, 1946 in Melcher. They were blessed with three children: Tom, Cheryl, and Terry.

Dorothy belonged to the American Legion Auxiliary. She was known for her good sense of humor, being a hard worker, her fondness of cats, and being a little strong willed. She loved all her family and the time they spent together.

She passed away December 10, 2010 at the age of 82 years at the Iowa Methodist Medical Center in Des Moines. Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband Thomas"Willie"Krpan; son Terry Krpan, and 12 siblings: Betsy, Fern, Wilma, Faith, Lavada, Florence, Opal, Harold, Veer, Mike, Merle, and an infant sister.

She is survived by her children: Tom Krpan of Melcher-Dallas and Cheryl Schaefer of Carlisle; 4 grandchildren: Vickie Presley, Stacey Krpan, Cory Schaefer, and Shana Krpan; and 5 great grandchildren: Josie, Emilie, Ryan, Steve, and Stacia; along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
