Hazel Causey Thomas, died May 6, 2005 at Hospice Home of Martin County, FL

She was a resident of Laurel Pointe Nursing Home of Ft. Pierce, FL for several years.

Mrs. Thomas was born in Horry County, South Carolina, May 16, 1916. [Per her marriage record with William Crowder Walker, she was born in Nichols, SC]

She graduated from the Ringling School of Art and gave paintings to many friends.

She owned and taught at a child nursery and kindergarten in Burlington, NC and later moved to Ft. Pierce, Florida.

She was the widow of Gaylord [Robert] Thomas of Ft. Pierce, and both were members of the Indian River Golf and Country Club where they enjoyed golf tournaments in their retirement.

She is survived by her step son, Gaylord Thomas, Jr., his daughters, Tania and Robbin Thomas, and eight other nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Thomas was preceded in death by her first husband, William [C.] Walker of Burlington, NC, three sisters, four brothers, and one nephew.

A graveside service at Mt. Olive Baptist Church, Nichols, SC will be held at a later date.
