Al was born Dec. 17, 1926 to Philip and Leona (DeWaele) Laureys in Mishawaka Ind. He was married June 29, 1948 to Maydeen Kring, the daughter of Fred and Helen (Miller) Kring of South Bend, Ind. He served in the U.S. Army, 1945 to 1946, serving in Okinawa, Japan.

Al was a retired postal worker and farmer. In his spare time, Al become an outstanding bowler in the Michiana area. After teaching Mazie (Maydeen) how to bowl, as a team, they were hard to beat. In 1968 Al and Mazie were the first ever husband and wife to bowl a perfect game (300) in the same year in league play.

In Oct. of 2008, after a prolonged illness, Al passed away. Surviving is his widow, Maydeen, a son Thomas A. of South Bend Ind., and a grandson Matt.
