Al was a retired postal worker and farmer. In his spare time, Al become an outstanding bowler in the Michiana area. After teaching Mazie (Maydeen) how to bowl, as a team, they were hard to beat. In 1968 Al and Mazie were the first ever husband and wife to bowl a perfect game (300) in the same year in league play.
In Oct. of 2008, after a prolonged illness, Al passed away. Surviving is his widow, Maydeen, a son Thomas A. of South Bend Ind., and a grandson Matt.
