William Doyle Sr. was born and raised in the Bronx. He served in the U.S. Navy. He was married to Virginia Doyle, and was the father of William Jr. and Laura.

After Aunt Virginia died, he retired and moved to Florida. He died there on February 9, 2002, from complications of cancer at the home of his companion, Helen Galvin.

He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Cause of death: complications from cancer.
