Rev. Alfred Wayne Darst

Services for the Rev. Alfred Wayne Darst, 68, of Whitehouse will be held on Saturday, March 26, 2011, at 10 a.m. at Lloyd James Funeral chapel with Dr. Mike Harmon officiating. Burial is in Cathedral in the Pines under the direction of Lloyd James Funeral Home.

Alfred went home to be with his Savior on Wednesday, March 23, 2011. He was born in St. Louis, Mo., on March 5, 1943, to Edith Darst and the late Rev. C.A. Darst. He grew up in St. Louis, Mo., and graduated from the University of Southern Mississippi with a Bachelor of Music degree. He spent his life serving God and doing His work by pastoring, constructing and spiritually building churches in Mississippi, Illinois, Kansas, Hawaii and Texas. He made many mission trips to Brazil building churches and showing the love of Christ to the Portuguese people.

He was preceded in death by wives, Tessa Gordon Darst and Helen Lorraine Santa Cruz Darst.

He is survived by his mother, Edith Darst; wife, Marilyn Darst; mother-in-law, Marie Darst; children, Gordon and wife Nancy, David and wife Rebecca, Barry and wife Noelda, Clayton and wife Kimberly, Dwayne and wife Terri, Darrell and wife Angela, Danny and wife Nancy, Katrina and husband Mike; and grandchildren, Tessa, Daygan, Rain, Toby, Danielle, Chandler, Bailey, Halle, Gavin, Liam, Staci, Brandon, Heather, Amy, Melissa, Micah, Macawley, Makinna and Rebecca. Pallbearers are Gordon Darst, David Darst, Barry Darst, Clayton Darst, Dwayne Orr, Darrell Orr and Danny Orr.

Visitation is scheduled for Friday, March 25, 2011, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
