BURIAL HERE FOR FORMER CENTRAL CITY PIONEER
Funeral services were held Tuesday in Columbus for George H. Gray, 99, former Merrick county pioneer settler. He came to Nebraska with his parents in 1872 and settled near Clarks. He later opened his own business in Central City, then entered the insurance and real estate management business in Columbus.
Mr. Gray was president of banks at Central City, Columbus, Tarnov and Duncan.
He was a member of the Nebraska Wesleyan University board of Trustees for 38 years until his retirement from active membership in 1951. He served a 5 year term as board president from 1931-1936.
Burial was in Central City. Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Otis Martin of Omaha.
