Guy Warren Pickle
Amory – Guy Warren Pickle, 67, passed away at his residence with his family by his side on Thursday, September 9, 2010. Born on August 21, 1943, in Tupelo, he was a son of the late Guy R. & Mary Evelyn Jones Pickle.

Warren graduated with honors from Amory High School, Class of 1961, where he was the first recipient of the Golden Panther Award and played football, basketball and baseball. After graduating Summa Cum Laude from the University of Mississippi, he attended Dallas Institute of Gupton-Jones College of Funeral Service, graduating with honors in 1966. Warren returned to Amory as the third generation funeral director to work at E. E. Pickle Funeral Home with his father and sister, where he was active in state and national funeral associations.

He was a member and a Deacon of First Baptist Church where he taught Sunday school in the Junior Department for several years. Active in the community, Warren was a board member of Cadence Bank, former Jaycee, a past-president of Kiwanis Club of Amory, member of Monroe County Chamber of Commerce, and coached his children in basketball, baseball and softball. A lifetime member of the Ole Miss Alumni Association, Warren was an avid Ole Miss Rebel fan, was a St. Louis Cardinals fan since childhood, and a supporter of Amory High sports. He enjoyed playing softball for numerous years before rekindling his love for the game of golf.

He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Tonya Elliott Pickle, daughter, Mary (Mike) Edgeworth, son, Robert G. (Diane) Pickle, all of Amory; grandchildren, Breanna, Brittany and Drew Edgeworth and Jack Lott; sister, Julie (Pete) Randle, Amory; sister, Marilyn P. Reed, Amory; brother-in-law, Tom (Peggy) Elliott, Roswell, GA, and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Michael Lee Edgeworth, grandparents, Frank & Emma Jones and E. E. & Laura Riggan Pickle, aunt, Elise Southerland, and uncle, Charles "Chicken" Pickle.

A Celebration of the Life of Warren Pickle will be held at 2 PM, Sunday at First Baptist Church with Dr. Allen Simpson, Bro. Jimmy McFatter and Bro. Tommy Whaley officiating. Burial will follow in Haughton Memorial Park. Pallbearers will be employees of E. E. Pickle Funeral Home. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Rhodamarie Maron, Elise McMasters, Dr. Hunt Bobo and Grey Matters Support Group.

Visitation will be from 4 – 8 PM, Saturday at the funeral home.
