Bill Nixon, 81, of Ozark died Wednesday, December 15th , in Fort Smith.
He was a retired scheduler and planer for Mobil Research in Edison, NJ. He was an Air Force veteran serving during WWII and the Korean Conflict. He was a Mason, a member of the Philo Lodge in South River, NJ; and a member of the VFW in DeSoto, KS.
He was born October 29, 1929 in the Jethro Community in Franklin County.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Lula Mae Nixon Davis and two brothers Gary Davis and Roger Davis.
He is survived by his wife Joan Voorhees Nixon of Jethro Community; a son William A. Nixon of Jethro Community; Three grandchildren, Five great-grandchildren, six sisters, Shirley Doss of Lake Charles, LA; Colene Watley, Lake of the Ozarks, MO; Norma Jean Johnson, DeSoto, KS; Barbara Cullins of Eufala, OK; Catherine Burrell and Ruth Stanley of Ft. Smith; five brothers, Larie Davis and James Davis of Desoto, KS; Richard Davis of Altus, AR;
Funeral Service was at 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 18, 2010 at Shaffer Funeral Home Chapel in Ozark with Reverend Joy Lamar officiating, with burial in Oak Ridge Cemetery under the direction of Shaffer Funeral Home.
