He belonged to Masonic Lodge #3570 in Detroit, MI, VFW Post in Masontown, WV, American Legion #163 in Eau Gallie, FL and the OASIS Shrine Temple and the Scottish Rite, both in Charlotte, NC. Preceded in death by his wife, Carol J DeBerry and daughter Annette Tresize, surviving are daughters, Debbie Patterson, Tina Irving, Tanya Holmes and Sheila Gail Garsee; sons, Darrell Ashley, Randall Ashley, James DeBerry, Jr and Michael DeBerry; 21 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and sisters, Christine Maksym, Genevieve Mayfield, Elma Haigdorne and Charlotte Rilley. A memorial service will be held at a later date at the American Legion #163, Eau Gallie. Brownlie-Maxwell Funeral Home in Melbourne is serving the family.
