Mr. Griffith died about 12:30 p.m. Monday at his home after a long illness. He was a retired postal carrier, a deacon in Chatham Baptist Church, a 32nd degree mason, and a shriner.
Survivors include his widow, Lena Mae Black Griffith, two sisters, Mrs. Cloy Dell McLeland of Monroe, and Mrs. Paul Miller, Sulphur.

Despite the fact that his World War II draft registration card gives Chatham, LA as his birth place, the 1900, 1910, 1930, and 1940 censuses all list his place of birth as Alabama.
