Sarah married Thomas Bates Wells on 6 Jan 1813 in Christian Co., Kentucky. They came to Illinois sometime between the birth of their daughter Elizabeth in 1816 in Kentucky and their son Franklin in Illinois in 1818.

Thomas and Sarah were the parents of Jane/Jennie, Elizabeth, Benjamin/Franklin, William Wilson, Barbara Ann, Lewis, Martha and Harvey.

Sometime after Sarah's death, her widowed husband went to Joplin, Jasper County, Missouri with his daughter's family. In 1870 he was a member of the household of Michael James Taylor in Jasper County. He is buried there in Stone Cemetery.
