James E. "Buster" Copeland, 69, died Sunday, Feb. 20, 2000, at his residence in Greenwood.
He was born Sept. 20, 1930, in Greenwood. His parents were Elmer T. and Frances (Boner) Copeland. He married Charlotte (Allison) Copeland on Feb. 5, 1955, in Greenwood. She survives. Other survivors include four sons, James M. Copeland, Dennis R. Hawkins and Gary W. Hawkins, all of Greenwood, and Jeffrey A. Copeland of Knightstown; a daughter, Lisa E. Stidham of Greenwood; a brother, Dale E. Copeland of Indianapolis; a sister, Laura Jane Lawson of Greenwood; 14 grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother, Eugene Copeland.
He was self-employed as a lifetime farmer in Clark Township and was previously employed for 16 years by Clark Township as a trustee assessor.
He was a member of Pleasant Valley United Church of Christ.
He was a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean conflict.
Pastor Ken Peterken will conduct a service at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Wilson St. Pierre Funeral Service and Crematory, Greenwood Chapel. Friends may call from 2 to 8 p.m. today at the funeral home. Burial will be at Rocklane Cemetery in Greenwood.
