Mr. John William Maynor Jr., age 54, of Florence, died Saturday, June 25, 2005, at ECM Hospital, following an extended illness.He was a native and lifelong resident of Lauderdale County and an active member of Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church.John was a U.S. Army veteran, where he served two tours of duty in Vietnam and received the Vietnam Service Medal, the Vietnam Campaign Medal, the Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal.Visitation will be today, June 27, 2005, from 6-9 p.m., at Greenview Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Tuesday, June 28, 2005, at 1 p.m., from Greenview Memorial Chapel, with burial to follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens. Officiating at the service will be the Rev. Steve Williams. Full military funeral honors will be accorded at graveside.Mr. Maynor was preceded in death by his father, John William Maynor Sr.He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Nance Maynor, of Florence; two sons, John W. Maynor III, of Mississippi, and Johnny Blane Maynor, of Decatur; daughter, Heather Elane Maynor, of Florence; mother, Jeanette Maynor; two sisters, Judy Cannon and Janet Behel; and a special brother-in-law, Raymond Cannon, all of Florence; and six grandchildren.Honorary pallbearers will be the elders of Union Valley Missionary Baptist Church.Special thanks to the nurses and staff of ECM Hospital CCU third floor and to Dr. Lango, Ericka and Susan.Greenview Funeral Home, of Florence, is directing.
