Obituary - Windsor Review - November 13, 1919
Samuel Holland Was born in Decatur county, ILL., August 17, 1839, died in Windsor October 30, 1919, age 80 years, 2 months and 14 days. In his early childhood he came with his parents to Harrison county, Mo., where he grew to manhood. During the Civil War he served in the Union Army four years. He was thrice married his first wife died without issue. To the second marriage there was born one daughter, Mrs. Victoria Millbourn of Kansas City, whose mother also died. To his third marriage there was born seven childLren, viz: Mrs. Malissa J. Logan of Warsaw, Mrs. C. J. Miller of Windsor, Mrs. E. E. Duncan of Kansas City, Mrs. Nora Salyers of Liberty, Alzono Holland of Warsaw, Edward Holland of Sedalia, and George J. Holland of West Plains. Early in life Mr. Holland made a profession of faith in Christ and united with the Baptist church, later on moving to Lincoln, Mo., where there was no Baptist church, he became a member of the Christian church of that place. Four years ago he ransferred his membership to the Christian church of Windsor. His last wife died Nov. 23, 1899.
Funeral services were conducted at the home of Rev. C. J. Miller Friday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock by G. S. Birkhead and interment was made in Laurel Oak cemetery.
