U.S. Immigration records says the family left Le Havre, France 1847 and arrived New York, final destination was Maryland. Ship Manifest states that Anton was a farmer all members were born in Ranna, Germany. Anton 25, Anna, 24, Anton 3, Albertina 2.
In 1847, the family of Anton, Mary Anna, Anton, Jr., and Albertina Bamberger, left Aargau, Switzerland for the US. According to Swiss records, their destination was Massillon, Ohio. Their "letters" had been sent on to St. Mary's Catholic Church in Massillon. I was informed by workers in the church office that their records do not go that far back. A fire in the 1850's had destroyed everything.
Swiss records also named the parents of Anton. His father was Stephen Bamberger and his mother was Mary Eda. Father of Stephen Bamberger was Friedolin Bamberger.
Albertina was known as Tina. She was very hard of hearing by the age of 40. According to a cousin this early deafness is hereditary.
