Charles Hurd, 73, Dies After Fall Near Home

Mother of Victim Was Cousin of Gen. John H. Morgan; Services To Be Monday

Charles Hurd, 73, retired, who fell on an icy pavement several days ago near his home, 509 Lexington avenue, Newport, died early Saturday at Speers Hospital.
His death resulted from pneumonia, Coroner Martin J. Sauter said. Mr. Hurd has suffered a hip fracture. He formerly was employed at the Meyers Broom Co., Cincinnati.
His late mother was a first cousin of the Gen. John Hunt Morgan of the Confederate Army during the Civil War.
Mr. Hurd, a lifelong resident of Campbell county, was a member of Noah Dove Lodge, I. O. O. F., and Twin City Council Junior Order O. U. A. M., Newport.
He was the husband of the late Alice Singer Hurd and son of the late Mr. and Mrs. William T. Hurd, early settlers of Campbell county.
He leaves a daughter, Miss Hazel Hurd, and a sister, Mrs. Ellen Bradley, both of Newport.
Services will be held at 2:30 p. m. Monday at the Vonderhaar & Stetter funeral home. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
