Bertha Rebecca Alexander, 88, of Upper Tract, died Oct. 17, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.

Born Jan. 22, 1912, at Landes, she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Mary Elizabeth (Whetzel) Hartman. She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gussa Alexander, whom she married Nov. 10, 1934 and died Aug. 17, 1991.

She is survived by six daughters, Treva M. Simmons, Bonnie F. Simmons, Opal G. Williams, Twila J. Walker, Lula K. Simmons and Linda E. Roberson, all of Franklin; three sons, Donald R. Alexander, Walter S. Alexander and Ralph I. Alexander, all of Upper Tract; three sisters, Ruth Gibbs of Franklin and Marie Cook and Thelma Harman, both of Harrisonburg, Va.; two brothers, Albert Hartman of Upper Tract and Earl Hartman of Dayton, Va.; 43 grandchildren; 62 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter.

Funeral services were Oct. 21, at the South Mill Creek Church of the Brethren, with interment in the Alexander Family Cemetery near Mozer.

Arrangements were under the direction of the Kimble Funeral Home, Franklin. (10/24)
