Grace Ruth Ainsworth, known to her family as Ruth, was born in 1900 in Saint Joseph, Missouri, to Romeo Wilson Ainsworth and his wife, Grace Rush Campbell Ainsworth. When she was still quite young, her family moved to Shenandoah, Page county, Iowa, for a few years where 3 of her siblings were born and one died. They moved on to Idaho Falls, Idaho, before 1910. When she was 18 she married Dewey Elsa Harris in Idaho Falls on 17 Nov 1918. Their only child, Robert Elsa Harris, was born 29 March 1920. Dewey was in the grocery business and Ruth worked along beside him in stores that they owned in Melba and Nampa, both in Canyon county, Idaho. After the couple retired, they moved to San Jacinto, California, where Ruth lost her husband after only about a year there. She later moved to Lancaster, California, where she died.
