MOS: 1372 Atomic Demolition Employment Technician.
Upon arriving in Vietnam 14 November 1967 Irwin was assigned to Delta Company, 11th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Marine Division.
Irwin died as a result of fragmentation wounds to the body in Dong Ha, while eating at the mess
hall, as result of 130MM hostile artillery fire on Vandergrift Combat Base when the Viet Cong were attempting to blow up the ammo dump just behind the mess hall.
Survived by his parents, Lauren B and Cecil Knickerbocker of 5211 Church St, Caledonia, New York.
