Hanover---Adam E. Kohr, 22 Pleasant Street, former state legislator, school teacher, borough engineer and Fifth Ward assessor, died yesterday at 7 a.m. in Hanover General Hospital where he was admitted Aug 23. He was 89.

A son of the late Rev. Lewis and Lena Witrechet Kohr, he was born in Foustown, Manchester Township. His father later was pastor of the Jefferson UB Church, where Mr. Kohr attended public schools.

A graduate of Lebanon Valley College, he taught schools for nine years in York and Windsor townships and in Red Lion. He served two terms in the state legislature in the 1890's as a representative of his district.

After completing engineering studies he moved to Hanover in 1894 and was named borough engineer in 1897, serving in that post for 30 years. Mr. Kohr was elected Fifth Ward assessor in 1933, serving until his resignation in March, 1953.
