Allen C. Brandt, 68, of Columbus, died Monday, Dec. 20, 2010, at his home.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 12 p.m., Thursday, at St. Isidore Catholic Church in Columbus, with Rev. Joseph A. Miksch officiating. Interment will be in the All Saints Cemetery in Columbus.

Visitation will be 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, with a 6 p.m. vigil, continuing from 11 a.m. until service time on Thursday, all at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the family wishes.

Allen C. Brandt was born July 16, 1942, in Humphrey to Anthony "Tony" and Josephine (Wemhoff) Brandt. He grew up in Tarnov. Allen attended grammar school at District 67, high school at Humphrey High, and continued his education at the Omaha Trade School. Allen joined and served in the Army National Guard. On April 29, 1967, he was united in marriage to Susan Sand at Lindsay Holy Family Church in Lindsay. He worked at Nielsen Chevrolet for several years as an auto mechanic. Allen then started farming. He farmed until 1992, when he went to work at Schaben Industries until his retirement in 2007. Allen enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren, working, going to the farm, fixing anything, and playing cards. While living in Platte Center he served on the Township Board and the Co-op Board. He was a member of St. Isidore Catholic Church.

He is survived by his wife, Susan Brandt, of Columbus; daughter, Kari (Paul) Wilke, of Columbus; son, Troy (Joann) Brandt, of Platte Center; son, Ryan (special friend, Rachel Sobota) Brandt, of Atlantic, Iowa; brother, Glen (Dorothy) Brandt, of Humphrey; brother, Jerry (Diane) Brandt, of Kearney; sister, Sharon (Glenn) Thielen, of Creston; brother, Clem (Stella) Brandt, of Platte Center; and sister, Ruth (John) Mausbach, of Tarnov; and six grandchildren, Braden, Camden, Larson, and Brooklyn Wilke, Ashton and Emily Brandt.

He is preceded in death by his parents.
