1931, May 26 - Cedar Rapids Evening Gazette & Republican - Obituary

C D Peck, Long Resident of Mechanicsville and Cedar Rapids, is Dead

Chester P Peck a resident of Mechanicsville and Cedar Rapids for many years, died this forenoon at the family residence, 1816 First Avenue. Mr Peck, with his brother, Charles L Peck, came to Iowa in 1882 and established the Peck Brothers Farm in Jones and Cedar counties northwest of Mechanicsville. Until the death of his brother, Charles, in 1914, they operated this farm together and specialized in raising fine stock. Mr Peck for more than 28 years was a director and vice-president of the Helmer and Gortner State Bank in Mechanicsville and took an active interest in its affairs and growth. He was born in Solon, New York on July 30, 1857, and was the son of Platt Peck and Mary Ann Kinney. Mr Peck is survived by his widow, Hattie Peet Peck, one son Attorney Wells C Peck and one granddaughter, Betty Jane Peck. He also leaves a sister Harriet L Saunders of Cortland, New York, and nephews and nieces. Funeral announcement will be made later.

Funeral services for Chester D Peck will be held in the Turner Chapel at 2 pm Thursday. C A Tiffany, reader of the First Church of Christ, Scientist, will officiate and burial will be in Oak Hill Cemetery.
