Lewis was a kind gentle man who loved gardening. He was a loving husband, father & father-in-law. Lewis was born in the Township of Poy Sippi Wisconsin, the son of George H. & Bertha I. Lane Hoeft. He was a graduate of Omro High School, Class of 1931. After which he attended vocational school. He married Virginia Bracy Wipf on May 11, 1957. He was a faithful member of the Eureka United Methodist Church. Lewis was very active in the Masons. He was a 50 year plus member & Past Master of Redgranite Masonic Lodge #207 F.&A.M. , Past Patron of Granite Chapter #109 O.E.S & a member of Hot Springs Chapter #58 O.E.S of T or C, New Mexico, and many other chapters and organzations. He had one adopted daughter, Julie Nickolai and two step sons, Robert Wipf & William Wipf. He had seven brothers: Hubert Hoeft, Raymond Hoeft, Pastor Merlin Hoeft, Robert Hoeft, Kenneth Hoeft, Norman Hoeft & Donald Hoeft. He had one sister: LuElla Weller. His wife Virginia preceded him in death on November 12, 1980. His life came to an end unexpectedly when he was alone in his mobile home, while spending the winter months in Truth or Consequences New Mexico, a place he loved.

Lewis was a very special father-in-law. I miss him, alot.
