Mrs. Bessie M Bennett, 97, of Fairfield R1, died Friday morning at the Homewood Retirement Home in Hanover where she had resided for the past 14 years.
Born in Mt. Hope Adams County, she was the daughter of the late Oliver and Margaret Shindledecker Lightner.
Mrs. Bennett was a member of the St. John's Lutheran Church in Fairfield. Her husband Elmer A Bennet, died in 1950.
She is survived by a son, John M Bennett of Fairfield R1, two daughter, Mrs. Louella A Izer and Mrs. Margaret J Weikert, both of Fairfield R1, one sister, Mrs. Tressie Kint of Michael Manor in Gettysburg, eight grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, and 13 great great grandchildren.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 Monday at the Monahan Funeral Home in Fairfield. The Rev. David Hunsberger and the Rev. Howard Koons will officiate. Interment will be at the Fairfield Union Cemetery.
