GRAYSON, La. (Special to the Watchman) -- Funeral services for J. S. Gordy, age 80 years, 9 months and four days, who died at his home in Grayson Friday night, were held 9 A.M. Saturday morning, with interment being made in the Welcome Home cemetery near Grayson. The funeral was conducted under the direction of the Riser Funeral Home of Columbia.

Mr. Gordy was born September 21, 1856; he was married November 12, 1878, to Sallie Plunkett, to whom 10 children were born, seven boys still surviving.

The sons are T. M., S. E., and Arthur B. Gordy of Grayson; V. G. Gordy of Little Rock, Ark.; D. P. Gordy of Benton, Ark.; J. D. Gordy of Tulsa, Okla.; C. L. Gordy of Hattiesburg, Miss. He is also survived by 30 grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

Active pallbearers were E. B. Humphries, F. G. Johnston, J. L. McKeithen, W. B. Douglas, A. P. Volxxx and Ivy Sorrells.
