H.D. (Doug) Record, beloved husband, father and respected businessman, died Dec. 23, 2010, at the age of 83 following a life well lived with grace and dignity.

Doug was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Fort Worth, Texas. He graduated from Polytechnic High School in Fort Worth in January 1945.

After graduation he moved to Lubbock and enrolled in Texas Tech School of Engineering, later changing his major to Business Administration. He graduated with a BA in 1951 and served in the U.S. Army from 1946 to 1948.

Doug worked as a grain dealer upon graduation and opened Doug Record Company in 1971; he also operated BGR trucking. Doug married his wife, Jo, on July 12, 1952. Doug was one of the organizing members of the Serra Club of Lubbock, served on the Lubbock Symphony Orchestra board and was president of the Cotton Seed and Feed Association. He was very active at St. Elizabeth's University Parish for many years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, H. D. and Ethel Record, and his brother, Jack Record.

He is survived by his wife, Jo; his son, Les and Les's wife Debbie of Marble Falls, TX; his daughter, Betty Hall and Betty's husband John of Lubbock; his daughter, Bridget Faulkenberry and Bridget's husband Marty of Lubbock; his sister, Edie George of Weatherford, TX; his sister, Bettye Gemmill of Midland, TX; his brother, David Record of Arlington, TX; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.

Rosary was held at St Elizabeth's Chapel on Sunday, December. 26, at 7 p.m. The funeral Mass was held at St. Elizabeth's Church on Monday, Dec. 27, at 10 a.m. Internment followed in Lubbock Cemetery after a private ceremony.
