Sergeant William J. Vize, DSN 4245, was commissioned as a Police Officer on 10/11/1993. After the academy he was assigned to the 2Nd, Area 1 Desk, 2Nd, Area 1 Desk, 2ND, 5Th, and 7Th District. On 02/21/2007 he was promoted to the rank of Sergeant and assigned to the 5Th District as a "Line Platoon" Supervisor. During his career he was awarded 1 Chief's Letter of Commendation on 11/13/1995 for outstanding police work above the call of duty. On 12/13/1997 while he was assigned to District 7 he was awarded "Officer of the Year" award for best overall Officer. At the time of his passing Sergeant William Vize had 16.84 years of dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. He was also a veteran of the Missouri Air National Guard and achieved the rank of Sergeant.

Baptized into the Hope of Christ's Resurrection. Beloved husband of Carolyn E. Vize (nee Engelbrecht); beloved father of Nathan and Nicholas Vize; dear son of Paul H. and Marlene M. Vize; dear brother of Thomas Vize; dear son-in-law of Kathleen Engelbrecht; dear brother-in-law, uncle, nephew, cousin and dear friend to many.

Bill was a sketch artist with the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Services: Visitation Tuesday, 4-8 p.m. at JOHN L. ZIEGENHEIN & SONS, 7027 Gravois.

Friends to gather at Epiphany of Our Lord Catholic Church, Smiley at Ivanhoe, Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. for Mass. Interment Resurrection Cemetery.
