One of Dare County's fine young men, Robert Wayland Duvall, was recently killed in battle in the Pacific. He leaves a wife, Mrs. Evelyn Dowdy Duvall of Kitty Hawk and two small children.

He was the son of Mrs. Mae Odell Tillett Duvall and the late Eph. Harvey Duvall of Manteo. He served several years in the Coast Guard.

Besides his wife, children and mother, he is survived by three brothers: Maynard, Calvert and Gilbert.

The funeral will be held at Twiford's Colony Chapel in Manteo on Saturday, November 25 with the Rev. C.L. Reynolds officiating. Burial will be in the Hooper Family Cemetery in Rodanthe.
