ASHBY, JOHN SHERMAN, DR. — Dr. John Sherman Ashby of Evanston, Ill., passed away January 5, 1982, at Henrotin hospital in Chicago at the age of 82.
Dr. Ashby was born in Fairmont, the son of Dr. Sherman F. Ashby, pioneer Fairmont physician, and Nellie Cowdery. He graduated from Fairmont high school, attended the University of Nebraska and the University of Iowa, and graduated from Rush Medical College in Chicago.
He was a veteran of World War I and II.
Dr. Ashby was on the staff at Henrotin hospital where he had practiced for over 50 years.
Memorial services were held in Chicago on Friday, January 8.
Following cremation, he was interred in the Geneva cemetery.
