Army Medic From Ozarks Reported Killed In War

REPUBLIC (Special) - An Army Commendation Medal recipient from Republic, Spec. 4 Charles Robert Biglieni, 21, has been reported killed in action in South Vietnam, according to an Army announcement Tuesday. Biglieni, an Army medic, was cited for heroism in action while engaged in military operations against a hostile force in Vietnam. He was cited for giving medical aid to wounded comrades under fire last Oct. 12. A family spokesman said Fort Leonard Wood officials informed his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles Biglieni, Route 2, Republic, that their son died last Friday as a result of hostile action. Officials were unable to supply the family with details about the combat operation in which young Biglieni was killed. The soldier is graduate of Republic High School and a member of First Baptist Church here. Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Karen, serving with the Women's Army Corps detachment, Fort Leonard Wood; three brothers, Danny, Billy and Tommy; and two sisters, Brenda and Susie. Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery here under direction of Cantrell of Republic. Spec. 4 Biglieni was reported killed in action in the war in South Vietnam March 5.
