I. Jay Hesser, 91, of Stillwater, went to be with his Savior on Sunday December 26, 2010 in Edmond, Oklahoma. Services will be held on Thursday December 30, 2010 at 1:30 P.M. at the First Christian Church in Stillwater with Dr. Ron Hesser and Rev. Owen Cayton officiating. Burial will be at Fairlawn Cemetery in Stillwater. Strode Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. He was born on March 28, 1919 in Enid, Oklahoma to Isaac J. Hesser and Mamie M. (Young) Hesser. After graduating from Stillwater High School, he went on to Oklahoma A&M College and received his B.S. in Agriculture in 1940. He was a member of Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity and later achieved an M.S. in 1962 from OSU. On May 25, 1940 Jay married his high school sweetheart Flossie Jane Sager just before he departed for Anchorage, Alaska where he served in the 4th Infantry Reg. as 1st Lieutenant for 18 months during World War II. After the war, Jay began his career as a County OSU Extension Director. He served as County Agent for 28 years in Creek, Washington and Noble Counties. He had a great interest in young people and their success. Working with 4-H boys and girls allowed him to encourage and support their career endeavors. Jay retired in 1975 to start his own cattle farm west of Stillwater, where he remained a loyal and avid Cowboy fan. Being the son of a Christian Church minister, Jay was faithful to serve where he was needed. He served as Deacon, Elder and Chairman of the Board. He was Treasurer of the Stillwater Christian Church for 7 years. His community clubs included Rotary Club for 65 years, where he was President and Treasurer at Perry and Stillwater, Treasurer of the Northern Oklahoma Hereford Association from 1957 until 2000, President and Treasurer of National Association of Retired Federal Employees in the local chapter (NARFE). He was preceded in death by his parents; his first wife, six brothers, Henry, Leo, Roy, Bennie, Pete, and Harvey; and one sister, Anna Jensen. Jay is survived by his second wife Beverly Lovell Hesser, of Stillwater; daughter, Darlene Jay Bryan Lewis and husband Cleve of Edmond; son, Dr. Ronald Nelson Hesser and wife Janice of Poteau; 5 grandchildren, Darilyn Nicole Jordan and husband Jeff of Sapulpa, Gavin DeWitt Bryan and wife Amy of Fort Worth, Tx., Hillary Beth Grantham and husband Steven of Oklahoma City, Curtis Brehm Hesser and wife Katie of Bixby and Rebekah Jane Salazar and husband Juan of Jenks; and 12 great-grand children, Caleb, Jacob , Sarah , Hannah , Rachel and Isaac Jordan, Ty and Eli Bryan, Elizabeth and Allison Grantham, Kyle and Carlie Hesser; one sister-in-law Iris Hesser of Stillwater. He is also survived by children from his second marriage, Janet Lawson of Stillwater, Larry Lovell of Perkins, and Mary Lauderdale of Enid.
