Wennon Lamar "Dick" Luby of Yazoo City, 86, died Saturday, July 14, 2005 at his residence. Services were held Monday, July 18, 2005 at 3:00 p.m. at Midway Baptist Church in Midway with graveside services following at Midway Baptist Church Cemetery. Rev. Tommy Pettman officated.
He was born in Yazoo County on January 16, 1919 to Thomas Pearce Luby and Effie Redd Luby. He was a truck driver for Yazoo Butane. Mr. Luby was a member of Midway Baptist Church of Midway.
Survivors include: his wife, Ruth Malone Luby of Yazoo City; son, Thomas Philip Luby of Wendover, Utah; daughters, Shirley L. Hart of Midvale, Utah, Gloria L. Pettigrew of Braxton and Patti L. Hogue of Benton; brother, Tom Luby of Benton; sisters, Viola Malone of Benton, Essie Hilderbrand of Bentonia and Annie Ledyard of Yazoo City; 11 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren.
