He was a founding member of Castle Hill Grange Hall Preservation Society, and was a fourth degree Knight of Columbus No. 2524, Presque Isle, receiving an honorary lifetime membership.

Robert had been a communicant of Nativity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Presque Isle, since 1958 when he became a Catholic. In 2006 he was awarded the Boston Post Cane as the oldest citizen in Castle Hill, of which he was very proud.

He is survived by his daughters, Anita (Beaulieu) of Chapman and husband, Franklin "Guy," and Deanna and Sheena McHatten, both of Castle Hill; granddaughters, Sharlet Beaulieu Bishop and husband, Rick, of Caribou and Sherri Beaulieu Guerrette and husband, Bruce, of Mapleton; four great-grandchildren, Natasha and Adam Bishop and Chandler and Griffin Guerrette; his only surviving sibling, Maude McHatten Allodi of Sarasota, Fla.; a sister-in-law, Gertha McHatten of Castle Hill; a brother-in-law, Al Salvatore of Southington, Conn.; several very special nieces and nephews, Vella Condon, Joan Lee Phillips, Richard Watt, and Sandie and Rocky McHatten.
Many others who called him Uncle Bob are too numerous to mention.
