Belva E. Beattie, age 89, of Cassville, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 26, 2010, at Lancaster Care Center in Lancaster. She was born on November 7, 1921, the daughter of Henry and Cora (Donaldson) Wiest. Belva was employed at Allis Chalmers in Harvey, IL, where she met and married Alexander Beattie on April 20, 1946. She enjoyed reading, word puzzles, Bingo, needlepoint and fishing. Belva crocheted many baby blankets and afghans for her family. She was known to always carry a camera and take many pictures.

She is survived by five daughters: Barbara (Andrew) Spitznas, Dolores (James) Bindell, and Pamela Beattie, all of Davenport, IA; Patricia (Steve Babineau) Beattie, Platteville; Lori (Monte) Scholl, Cassville; 13 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Belva was preceded in death by her husband, Alex, two sisters: Hilda Retallick and Dorothy Schnering, a brother, Ken Wiest, and a great-grandchild, Abigail Kirschbaum.
