Born Dec. 3, 1940, in Phoenix, Ariz., the son of Glenn and Nina (Shippy) Brock, he married Sharon Perren in Abingdon on Nov. 1, 1962. She survives. Melvin (Burt) was raised in Abingdon, IL., He was the son of Glen & Nina Brock.
Other survivors include four sons, Melvin (Malessa) Brock Jr., Neelyville, Mo., Terry (Gina) Brock, Dyess, Ark., Kevin (Jamie) Brock, and Cory Brock, all of Harviell; one daughter, Melody (Everett) Mitchell, Benton, Mo.; three brothers, Joe Brock, Abingdon, Harvey Brock, Alexis and Bill Brock, Denton, Texas; two sisters, Frances Thurman, and Roberta West, both of Abingdon; and 15 grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Glenn & Nina Brock, his mother died yesterday, and one brother, Cecil Brock.
He was a retired truck driver for Snider Transport in Green Bay, Wis.
He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served from 1956 to 1959.
He enjoyed shooting pool and driving a bus.
Visitation will begin after 6 p.m. Saturday at Fowler-Sullivan Funeral Chapel in Neelyville. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home chapel with Elder Rodney Abney officiating. The burial will be in Cochran Cemetery at Harivell.
