Attended West Point Military Academy, withdrew to joing the Confederate Army, served as a Lieutenant in the 1st South Carolina Artillery and was credited with firing the first shot at Fort Sumter in Charleston Harbor, SC at the beginning of the late War Between The States, 1861. Left for California to become a gold miner, later worked in the motion picture industry and finally settled for his last years in Flushing, NY.
