Ruth R. Gaumond, 61, passed away at Select Specialty Hospital in Phoenix, Sunday Dec. 26, 2010, after a valiant battle against insurmountable odds.
Born Linda Ruth Rennick to Elaine and Arthur Rennick of Lynnwood, Calif., Ruth was a longtime Arizona resident, having lived in Dewey since 1987.
Ruth studied sociology and psychology at Phoenix College.
She was known locally for her horse training and riding expertise.
Her interests included Navajo weaving, gourmet cooking, painting, literature and antiques. Ruth was active in community service, having worked as a volunteer at the Prescott Salvation Army for many years.
She is survived by her husband, Paul J. Gaumond; her daughters, Adrianne Ann Gaumond of Dewey, Ariz., Tammy C. Sherlock of Phoenix, Ariz.; her sister Vicki Wheeler and family of Golden Valley; her brother Leonard and his family of Phoenix, Ariz.; and her beloved Arab stallion, Galapaso.
Her quick mind and gentle nature will be missed by all who knew her.
Services will be Saturday Jan. 1, 2011, at St. Germaine Catholic Church on Dana Drive (off Robert Road) in Prescott Valley, Ariz. A viewing will commence at 11 a.m. with the Funeral Mass at noon; burial will follow at Arizona Pioneers' Home cemetery.
