Rites Planned Today for Kelly Jefferson
SPARTA- Funeral services for Kelly B. Jefferson, 76, prominent Sparta area tobacco buyer for more than 50 years, who died Wednesday night in his home, will be held today at 2 p. m. in the Lanham funeral home mortuary. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Mr. Jefferson, a native of Virginia, came to Sparta in 1904. He bought tobacco for American, Liggett and Meyers, and Jefferson Leaf tobacco companies, and was an officer in the latter company. He was a Sparta school board member for eight years, and a veteran member of the Knights of Pythias and United Commercial Travelers. Surviving are his wife, and two sons, Ted and William, both of La Crosse.
