Bishop was the eldest son of John H. Hutson and Mary Bargar. He married in 1877 to Ellen Elizabeth Burroway, and after her death, in 1892 to Ella Quillen Harding. He was the father of Ida Belle, Mollie (McGuire), Harry, John, Carrie, Elsie (Martin Gray), and Colby. His first wife, Ellen, and three daugthers - Ida Belle, Carrie, and Colby, all died within a month of one another of typhoid fever. Bishop died at the Tuscarawas Co. Home. He has no monument and never did.
