Mother: Maude Marie (Briggs) Bartholomew - August l5, l898-Sept. 26, 1972. Loran's parents are buried in Courtland, KS Cemetery. Loran was one of ten children.
Loran was married twice. First wife: Ellyn L. (Lawrence) Bartholomew. Ellyn was born on April 24, l9l0 in Mankato, KS and died Oct. 5, l972. She is buried in the Crab Orchard, NE Cemetery. Six children were born to this marriage. Namely:
l. Patricia Kay Bartholomew- March l0, l940-Nov. 29, l945. Buried in the Crab Orchard, NE Cemetery. She was killed in a hit/run vehicle accident coming home from school.
2. Loranetta Lee Bartholomew--Sept. l7, 1942. Died: Dec. 8, l999 in Beatrice, Nebr. She belonged to the Lutheran Church in Beatrice. Long time friend/companion of Roger T. Wollenberg of DeWitt, NE.
Buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Beatrice, NE. She was married to Mr. Donald D. Styers (1929-1988) and had 5 children...all are living.
3. Nyla Maudean Bartholomew--May ll, l945..Survives--Married to Ray L. Akin. Two children: Nyla "Sue" (l963-2008) and Edward L. Akin, two granddaughters: Kamille Rose Akin and Sophia L. Akin.
4. Loran Elston Bartholomew, Jr.--August l9, l946--Died: May l3, 1988-Buried in the Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery in Beatrice, NE. "J.R." had no children. He was a Vietnam War veteran having served in the US Army..Rank: Spec 4.
5. Cydney Ray Bartholomew--Sept. l, l947--Survives. "C.R."/Cyd Bartholomew married/divorced. He had no children.
6. Jimmy Joe Bartholomew--Dec. 6, l948--Survives. Married to Wanda Gale. They have two daughtrs, "Missy" and Katie Bartholomew.
Loran's second wife:
Helen C. (Fisher) McCown--1919-2010
Three sons were born to Loran and Helen: Roy, Milton R., and Robert L. Bartholomew..all survive.
Also survivors are two brothers: Paul and Carl Bartholomew. One sister, Mrs. Marie (Bartholomew) Ellis. There are numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren whom also survive Loran.
Loran served in the US Navy in WWII.
