Blake Allan Beeler, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, aunt, and friend, left this world on Wednesday, March 11, 2009, in Victoria, Texas. She was born September 28, 1914 in Galveston to Gertrude Francis Barron and Edward Blake Allan.

Because of the Depression she was unable to attend college so she began working for two new doctors who were starting a clinic in Texas City, Dr. George Beeler and Dr. Richard Manske. In 1936, claiming that he did not have enough money to pay her, Dr. Beeler married Blake and they began a union that lasted 55 years until his passing in 1991.

Blake was a remarkable woman who was a selfless helpmate in the strictest sense of the word. When Dr. Manske and her husband were sent overseas for World War II, she kept Beeler-Manske Clinic open with a team of young doctors. She escaped being killed in the April, 1947 blast in Texas City because she was just too busy at the Clinic to go to the wharves to watch the fire.

She retired from working at the Clinic in 1947 to begin raising her family but that did not end her days of working. She devoted herself tirelessly to her husband and children, always willing to do whatever task needed to be done for them.

She moved from Texas City in 1977, but Texas City was always home.

Blake was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Dr. George Beeler, and her sister Bernice Smith. She leaves three children and their spouses, Mary Blake Meadows and her husband Chuck of Dallas, Dr. George Beeler and his wife Barbara of Crockett, and Melissa Daniel and her husband Charlie of Victoria. She is survived by four grandchildren, G. W. Beeler III of Beaumont, Mary Blake Daniel of Lubbock, Meredith Daniel, and Paul Daniel, both of Victoria. She also leaves a sister Rae DeLaune of Baytown, a sister-in-law and brother-in-law Beverly and Marshall Plummer of Boerne, a nephew, George Plummer of Boerne, and nieces Ann Satterlee of New Orleans, Rita Giles of Houston, Karen Easton of Corpus Christi, Renee DeLaune Treacy of Austin, Suzanne Wonson of Rockport, MA, Anna Clare Ray of Steamboat Springs, CO, Gretchen Owen of Kerrville, and Gwynne Cadle of San Antonio. She also leaves a wealth of good friends from everywhere she lived.

A memorial Mass will be said at noon on Friday, March 20 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Texas City. Interment will be at 10:30 a.m. prior to the Mass at Galveston Memorial Park Cemetery in Hitchcock. Visitation with the family will be held on Thursday, March 19 at the Emken Linton Funeral Home from 6 p.m. to
8 p.m.

If desired, memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to Adopt A Pet, 8215 Houston Highway, Victoria, TX 77901 or to the charity of your choice.
