Dorothy M. Tanksley Dorothy M. Tanksley, 81, died Sunday, Oct. 21, 2001, in South Carolina. Services will be 2 p.m. Thursday at Grace Memorial Chapel with Rev. Toby Blackstar officiating. Interment will be at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery. She was born Jan. 3, 1920, in Ponca City to George Ellis and Bertha Faye (Vance) Garton. On Dec. 23, 1939, she married Samuel R. Tanksley in Newkirk. They lived
in Red Rock, before moving to Ponca City in 1951. She moved to South Carolina in 1999. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband; two sons,
John Dale Tanksley and Walter Ray Tanksley; one sister, Betty Ward and one granddaughter, Debora Sue Mullins. Survivors include one son, Sam E. Tanksley and his wife Louise of Moncks Corner, S. C.; one daughter, Shirley Mullins and her husband Jim of Cushing; one daughter-in-law, Connie Tanksley of Stillwater; two sisters, Marcella Horacek of Sapulpa and Merlene Myers and her husband Jack
of Seattle, Wash.; one brother, George Garton and his wife Wanda of Ponca City; one sister-in-law, Zella Sullivan of Ponca City; eight grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews. Pallbearers will be
grandsons, Jeff Irons, Ben Way, Joe Tanksley, Sam Tanksley Jr. Brandon Romines and nephew, Van Garton. Honorary pallbearer will be Josh Tanksley. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4323 N.W. 63rd Street, Suite 110, Oklahoma City, OK 73116-1513
