Frances first married Warren W. Black, November 10, 1849, in Knox County, Tennessee. They were documented in the 1850 Tennessee Census, Page 436, Knox County. His age listed as 21, hers as 15. They spent the next 12 years in Knox, Roane and Monroe counties where the first 6 of their 11 children were born. Circa 1863, they moved to Indiana.

Family lore says that circa 1874 in Indiana (or Illinois) that Warren was involved in a fight over water rights. It is not known who killed whom or if he left to avoid prosecution.

Regardless, Frances is living in Neosho County, Kansas by March of 1875 as widowed. She married William R. Miller, on May 12, 1875, in Neosho County, Kansas.

Mrs. Frances Miller, 84, died at her home in Prosperity, Saturday afternoon, from infirmities incident to old age. She had resided in Prosperity for the past 26 years. She was a native of Tennessee. Surviving relatives are six daughters and 1 son. Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church in Prosperity, Missouri.
