Nathaniel "Ted" Ackerson, 89 of 109 Center St., died Thursday, July 29, 1999 at his home.

Graveside services will be 10:15 a.m. Saturday at New Ulm Cemetery with full military honors conducted by New Ulm veterans organizations.

Visitation will be 9-10 a.m. Saturday at the Firle Funeral Home in New Ulm. He is survived by sons and daughters-in-law Thomas and Carol Faye Ackerson of New Ulm; Rodney and Elena Ackerson of New Carlisle, Ohio; two grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife in 1986; son Myron; a twin brother; one sister.

He was born Aug. 30, 1909 in Elbow Lake to Nathaniel and Alvina (Kiesling) Ackerson. The family moved to New Ulm where he attended school. He married Luella Olson Feb. 20, 1937 in Reno, Nev. Following their marriage, they traveled as part of his 21 years of service in the U.S. Navy. After his discharge from the Navy, he worked for the Highway Department and later Web Core in new Ulm. In 1956 he began work as a guard with Kraft Foods in New Ulm, retiring in 1972. He was a life member of VFW Post 1648 and American Legion Post 132 of New Ulm, the Naval Fleet Reserve, and Junior Pioneers.
