Helen R Scouten, 95, a resident of Corry Manor Nursing Home, died Monday, April 15, 2002. She was born June 28, 1906, in Sparta Twp, Crawford County, a daughter of the late Guy and Hettie Darrow Blakeslee. She formerly lived on Wood St, Spartansburg. She owned and operated the family dairy farm in Spartansburg, retiring in 1976 after 50 years. She graduated from Spartansburg Vocational School in 1925. She was a member of the Senior Citizens of Spartansburg, and the Friendly Neighbors Club. She attended the Christian and Missionary Alliance Church in Spartansburg, and enjoyed crocheting, and arts and crafts. She was preceded in death in 1980 by her husband, Paul H Scouten, whom she married Nov 13, 1926; a sister, Hazel M Scouten; and two brothers, Paul W and Milton J Blakeslee. Survivors include many nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Friends may call at the Bracken Funeral Home, Spartansburg...Burial will be at Rose Hill Cemetery, Spartansburg.
