Requiem Mass for Joseph W. Joynt, who died Saturday at St. Luke’s Hospital, Aberdeen, was celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday at St. Mary’s Catholic Church with the Rev. John Molvaney officiating, burial was in Zell. Rosary was recited at 8 p.m. Monday at Coleman’s Funeral Home, Redfield. Knight of Columbus rosary was recited at 8:30 p.m.
Joynt was born July 4, 1905 at Chelsea. He was married June 9, 1927, at Zell to Eleanor Weiss. They farmed near Chelsea for four years and then moved to Zell where Joynt served as a rural mail carrier for 24 years. He was past president of the Rural Mail Carriers Association, a member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus, Redfield Council; Fourth Degree Knights of Columbus, Aberdeen and a member of the National Rural Mail Carriers Association.
Joynt is survived by his widow, three sons, Joe, Tahoe City, Calif.; Michael, Sacramento; John, Redfield; five daughters, Donna, Mrs. Bob Heintzman, Aberdeen; Belva, Mrs. Cecil Harrington, Terre Haute, Ind.; Mary, Mrs. Lawrence Shevlin, Phoenix; Sister M. Joelle, Pierre; Patricia, Mrs. Roy Pearson, Sacramento; 17 grandchildren, one brother and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by one son, his parents and three brothers.
