Born on a farm near Swengel Harold graduated from Mifflinburg High School in 1932. He got a WPA job, first working on a road crew and then at the county courthouse. After his marriage he and Sula rented the front half of a house in Vicksburg, purchasing the property when the owner died in 1942. They lived there the remainder of their lives. He became postmaster of the village and worked the night shift at Philco in Watsontown, eventually becoming a foreman. When he was transferred to day shift Sula was appointed postmaster.
He was an avid hunter, reloader and fisherman. He served as secretary-treasurer of the J. A. Spigelmeyer Rod & Gun Club for 50 years.
He was survived by son Carl and daughter Mrs. Patricia Kessler.
