Cancer Ends Life of Mrs. Bertha Furnish at Age 63


Cancer caused the death of Mrs. Bertha Furnish, 63, of near Spencerville Tuesday night at 11 o'clock at the Sanders hospital in Auburn.


Mrs. Furnish, a widow, spent her entire life in DeKalb county. She had been suffering from cancer for a period of four months before being taken to the hospital in Auburn two days before passing away.


Mrs. Furnish was the widow of Ralph Furnish who died Sept. 3, 1938. Mrs. Furnish was born to Martin and Mary Baker Keesler on March 11, 1886.


The body is now at the Walter funeral home in Spencerville, where friends may call. Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon at 2 at the funeral home with the Rev. W. H. Baker, pastor of the Lutheran church in Spencerville, of which she was a member, officiating. Burial will be in Spencerville's White City cemetery.


Survivors of the deceased include the following children: Delbert and Virgil Furnish of Spencerville; Mrs. Berniece Dean, 1008 North Main street, Auburn; and Mrs. Marjorie Timmerman, Mrs. Helen Laux and Mrs. Pauline Trammel, all of Spencerville; three brothers, John Keesler, Edgerton, O.; Samuel Keesler, St. Joe and Alvin Keesler, Fort Wayne; three sisters, Mrs. Minerva. Dumon and Mrs. Allie Moor, Hillsdale, Mich., and Mrs. Clara Smith of Andover, O., and 26 grandchildren.
