Primitive Baptist preacher. He moved from Lincoln Co., TN to Tippah County, MS in 1836. He established several Primitive Baptist churches in Tippah Co, MS including the Antioch Primitive Baptist Church which was constituted in July 1836.

Obituary of James Childers from Pleasant Hill Primitive Baptist Church Records: In the year of our Lord, 1854, it has pleased the Divine Mind to take to himself our beloved brother and pastor of our church, James Childers, an old fashion disciple of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Deceased May 5 Age 82. Resolved that the same be recorded in our church book as a remembrance of his labors and to sympathise with his relations. Done by order of the church in conference Saturday before the 3rd Lords day in July 1854.
